FMS 2010

Compared to previous year, the number of questions increased from 175 to 200 but there was a drop in level of difficulty. Even then FMS is a genuine test of speed where even the best of the candidates face paucity of time. You have to do 200 question in 120 minutes with negative marking for a wrong attempt is what makes FMS a challenging task

Time for the exam  – 120 minutes
Total number of questions – 200
Number of sections – 4
Number of choices per question – 4
Marks per question – 4
Negative marking – 1

The were four sections with around 25 % questions from each section

Section 1: Verbal Ability
Section 2: Quantitative Ability
Section 3: Logical Reasoning
Section 4: Reading Comprehension

Verbal Ability:
The Verbal section focused mainly on vocabulary and usage This section was more difficult with 13 questions on usage and 37 questions from direct vocabulary. The vocabulary questions were slightly difficult and would require a good level of profiency to attempt the same. 25  minutes were enough for this section and 50% correct would be a good attempt

Quantitative Ability:
This section had practically no questions from DI.  Questions mostly on algebra and arithmetic with few questions on coordinate geometry, maxima minima. Quite a good number of questions had graphs .  30-35 minutes were reasonable to complete this section and a attempt of 60% be considered as good.

Logical Reasoning:
This was not a difficult section. Quite a good number of questions were from analytical reasoning , 2 anagrams and some questions DI. Even few question from Vocab also. Questions on sitting arrangement and family tree were quite easy.  25 minutes and attempt of 22 questions was reasonable for this section


Reading Comprehension:
The RC section consisted of 4 passages long passages and some running in 4 to 5 pages. The passages were from  business, management and philosophy. The passages were lengthy and also had some tricky questions . 35 minutes reasonable for this section.

FMS 2008

In year 2008, the FMS Delhi paper was in four sections
Section I had 35 question on  Verbal Ability
The areas covered were
 
English Vocabulary    Synonyms, Antonyms (about 10 questions)
                                  and Analogies (about 5 questions)
English Proficiency    Idioms and Phrases  and fill in blanks (around 5
                                 questions)
English Usage            Odd man out
Section II  has 40 questions on Reading Comprehension
This section has about 5 passages mainly from Economics, Sociology, Philosphy and Psychology . Each passage has 8 questions
Section III  had 50 questions from Quantitative Aptitude
The questions were from
Elementary Mathematics :  There were 27 questions mainly from arithmetic, commercial maths, mensuration and geometry

The model test pattern for  FMS Quantitative Aptitude 2008 is available to subscribers. Users can take any number of tests on the pattern. Each time a new test with different set of questions with question types, time and marking pattern of FMSQA 2008 will be created for user to practice. Section IV  has 50 questions on Analytical Reasonig and Logical Reasoning

Logical Reasoning questions were in 10 sets with  2, 3 or 4 questions in each set. In addition there were two independent  questions
The analytical reasoning questions which were interspersed in between the logical reasoning ones were relatively easier
